Let me take some of that work load

Something we all love to hear from time to time is an offer from someone to take some work off of our plate.  Well, here is that offer.  Let me handle your payment posting for you.  Seriously, have you considered using the ERA Import function within Nextgen EPM?

While ERA Imports were already smooth and successful with many payers, new features in version 5.5 (and even more on the way in version 5.6) have added the needed flexability for successful imports with even more payers.  In addition, we are seeing more and more payers provide payments in electronic form saving data entry staff hours of time and drastically reducing wear and tear on their keyboards and precious fingers.

New Remittance Profile functionality in 5.5 allow users to choose which insurance plans should automatically post zero pays (denials), “take-backs” (recoupment’s) and even interest payments.  Add to that, the ability to automatically create tasks based on specific reason codes, automatic attachment of the EOB to the payment line item and auto creation of the COB portion of the claim and you have saved yourself additional hours of labor.

With each ERA file imported, NextGen EPM creates a seperate transaction batch for each check imported.  Within that batch,  users can modify, delete or even add transactions.  If the ERA import produces an undesireble result, the batch can be deleted removing all associated transactions.  The ERA process is accurate, safe and efficient.  Want more information? Contact our training department by emailing epmtraining@kighealthcare.com.  We are happy to take some of that work load for you.

Reporting Tips

Statement Report:

After using many different billing systems throughout the years, I fell in love with the reporting capabilities of NextGen.  The Statement Report is one of my favorites.  When you run this report prior to sending statements, it prevents the practice from generating statements to patients who do not necessarily need one.  This saves the practice time and money.

- Report Path:  File > Print Forms > Statements
- Check the option “Display Credit Balances on Statement”
- Click Stmt Report
- In the report filter, on the Filter 2 Tab, set Credit Bal Not Equals 0.00 and click OK.

This report will list all accounts for which a statement will be generated where an unapplied credit currently exists.  Disperse all applicable credits, balance and post the batch prior to running statements.  Remember,  when generating the statement file, DO NOT CHECK the option “Display Credit Balances on Statement”.   You can also view a sample pre-statement run report by clicking the following link                                .
